What is the E-Supplement?

The E-supplement is a benefit payment of $95.99 that is given in addition to Supplemental Security Income (SSI) of $637 (in 2008) and the State Supplement of $83.78.

How can I get it?

To be eligible for the E-Supplement, you must be in one of the two eligibility categories:

1. Must be receiving Federal SSI, have higher living expenses than $802.77 ($623.00 + $83.78 + $95.99 = $816.77) and be living in one of the following certified facilities:
- Foster home for children 
- Group home for children 
- Licensed or Certified adult family/foster home
- CBRF of 20 beds or less 
- Certified Residential Care Apartment Complex (RCAC) 
OR
2. Must live in own household or sharing household expenses in the household of another. Must establish eligibility by showing the need for 40 or more hours of long-term support services in the household PER MONTH.

How do I apply for it?

You may apply for this benefit at the Department of Human Services in your county of residence. The county agency will complete an assessment and decide eligibility for this benefit.
